Description
Hennie Niemann Snr (South African 1941 – )
Hennie Niemann’s work is inspired by his response to Africa and the great outdoors, both the bush and the sea. His father, Hennie Niemann senior, taught him technical skills and a love of art history and gallerist Johans Borman was instrumental in helping the young artist navigate the South African art world successfully as a professional.
Although usually based in figuration, his subjects are angular, facetted and increasingly abstract with strong compositional rhythms and harmonies. The artist has exhibited locally and international and currently lives and works from a studio in Onrus on the Western Cape coast.
