Carla Louw. (1969-)
Carla Louw has established herself as a truly inspirational South African portraiture, Postwar & Contemporary artist, She has an extraordinary ability to successfully balance an emotional and formal arrangement of portrait-focused pieces.
Her first works featuring flowers and landscapes, an ‘African’ series and ‘Emotion’ series. After being introduced to the work of famous portrait photographers.
Her paintings serve as quite mirrors, reminding us of the shared paths we walk and the emotional truths we all carry. In addition to charcoal, she works with mixed-media and painting, including themes of “Raw Emotion” and Pondo studies, inspired by music and her research.
