After Rembrandt van Rijn 1606–1669 Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, simply known as Rembrandt was born on 15 July 1606 in Leiden, Netherlands. He was the ninth child born to Harmen Gerritszoon van Rijn and Neeltgen Willemsdochter van Zuijtbrouck Rembrandt was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsman. He is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of Western art. It is estimated Rembrandt's surviving works amount to about three hundred paintings, three hundred etchings, and several hundred drawings. Rembrandt never went abroad but was considerably influenced by the work of the Italian Old Masters and Dutch and Flemish artists who had studied in Italy. After he achieved youthful success as a portrait painter. "After Rembrandt" refers to prints that are copies or reworkings of Rembrandt van Rijn's (1606–1669) artwork. Rembrandt's prints are among the most copied in art history.
